I love simple images... and "Triplicity" fits the bill as I discovered these three sticks in the sand early one morning as I was checking the surf. Passing by I couldn't help turning my truck around to see if there was a scene I could capture. I can only assume the sticks were placed there the day before by children playing in the sand. I loved the symmetry of the size and placement of the sticks that I thought the composition was excellent for the sunrise that was about 30 minutes away. So I set up my tripod, camera and cable release to take a long exposure. It was one of those clear, crisp cold mornings where the air is dry and the water a beautiful blue. As the sun came up it cast these great shadows from a line of large boulders that protect Pacific Coast Highway from high tide. The horizon turned this great yellow cream color which added great contrast to the blanketed blue water. Simple, elegant, so California.
