Sunrise in the desert... those crisp, cool, clear mornings are special to behold. The sun usually wakes me no matter how late I was shooting the night before. The sun DOES come up like a God here so you better be ready to capture that special light because it disappears quickly... then you have to wait all day in the blistering heat to get a chance at the afternoon dusk light.

For this image I was up late the night before shooting star trails and when I had just finished packing my gear for the night a large dust storm started pelleting me as I jumped into my truck to sleep for the night. As it would be, the dust storm lasted about two hours, shaking the truck back and forth and preventing me from falling asleep. So when the sun woke me the next morning I had only had a few hours of sleep... but I hurried to my choosing spot to shot this image just before I lost that magic morning light.
