The skyline of downtown San Diego has been photographed so many times, especially from the Coronado view looking east, that I’ve avoided shooting it for many years. Yet, I always wanted my own unique perspective on it for my portfolio. So, during Thanksgiving week 2015 I finally seized the right opportunity and found myself downtown as a low-pressure system was moving through the area. With low moving clouds, soft light and windy conditions I proceeded to find the right location and start taking 2-4 minute exposures. A few boats speed by my viewfinder as my shutter was open but since they were moving fast, they did not register on the sensor, but the wake of their boats added to the movement of the water.

Every time I look at this image I feel like it pulls me into a daydream… a dream about a kid from Louisiana, one day, living his dream in Southern California.
