What a spectacular sunset to start off the first day of 2016.

I was watching the clouds throughout the day and decided to find a quiet spot away from the big Friday crowds that usually fill the beaches on the last weekend of the holidays. As I was searching for a spot to photograph from, I remembered this old broken down wooden railing overlooking the beach. The setting sun was in the perfect position and as I framed the composition, the clouds rolled in perfectly into my viewfinder. Shooting thirty second exposures allowed for movement in the clouds, smoothness of the water and the vibrant, rainbow of colors to register onto my sensor.

Such a great indication and hope of what the year 2016 should turn out to be.
