Coastal fog in Southern California is very common certain times of the year so I am always looking for locations to take advantage of this to create a unique image. The "Coaster' and "Surfliner" are our commuter trains for traveling up and down the Southern California corridor of the coast... and they both get spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean and the lagoons in this region.

This morning the fog was really thick so I had to time the trains closely so I didn't get into an uncomfortable situation. This location is not close to any crossings so the trains do not blow they're horns... you have to listen very well and be mindful of the tracks vibrating and tingling at your feet to know when one is approaching.

Creating a black & white image really emphasizes the tracks and creates the metaphor I was looking for... where do these tracks lead to?... Answer: Where ever you want them to... the future is yours!
